Luther updates his blog...

John Tetzel kept IM-ing his friends to purchase indulgences through the pay-pal account he set up on his MySpace, and Luther, who had just set up his Blogspot (the only choice for real blog-reformers), was compelled to respond.

His Post was titled, "Mark Driscoll The Pope is wrong: 95 reasons why"

1. When our Lord and Master Jesus Christ said, "repent," he willed the entire life of believers to be one of repentance.

28. It is certain that when money clinks in the money chest, greed and avarice can be increased; but when the church intercedes, the result is in the hands of God alone.

43. Christians are to be taught that he who sees a needy man and passes him by, yet gives his money for indulgences, does not buy papal indulgences but God's wrath.

94. Christians should be exhorted to be diligent in following Christ, their head, through penalties, and death;

95. And thus be confident of entering heaven through many tribulations rather than through the false security of peace (Acts 14:22).

Note on Luther's choice of Blogging service: Melenchthon (a wordpress man himself with his own domain) asked Luther one day on the eve of the Reformation why he uses blogspot (which he tried to convince Luther was far inferior). Luther simply replied, "Here I blog, I can do no other." End of discussion.

Here's to a reformation of good blog writing.

Other Blogging Haunts:

I also occasionally post annotations that I make as I read Cormac McCarthy at "Reading Cormac McCarthy."
