The First Rule of Tautology Club
Listen Up! The first rule of tautology club is the first rule of tautology club.

There are many things I love about this comic-strip: the playing with words; the intertextual references; the coterie of stick-figure rabble-rousers;
In sum, one of my favorite linguistic jokes is one of my favorite linguistic jokes.

You failed to mention what may just be the best part of the comic, that is, its veiled reference to Fight Club! Great comic, I love it, in all its nerdy glory!
"its veiled reference to Fight Club!"
That was the "intertextual reference"!
We'll call the reference to Facebook a "direct quotation" and the reference to Fight Club a "verbal/thematic allusion." :)
I see! Well, to be fair to the amazing nature of Fight Club, its title must be explicitly mentioned. I don't make the rules. Oh wait, I might have just made that one up...
"its title must be explicitly mentioned."
That must be the first rule of Fight Club fanaticism.
Really, there is no hope, which is to say, I am hopeless in every facet. Having read your blog, I have now abandoned even the semblance of hope, so that I know there is not hope for any hoper, myself or other.
"That must be the first rule of Fight Club fanaticism."
Hmmm... A Fight Club Club. I like the sound of that! In all honesty though, Fight Club is one of the best movies I've ever seen. If I weren't a Christian (praise God I am) I'd be a nihilist just like them.
Rick,
Your comment is full of winding circumlocution and nonsensical whimsy, which is what makes it great.
Mike,
If you were to adopt semantic nihilism, you'd probably have nothing to say.
"There are many things I love about this comic-strip: the playing with words; the intertextual references; the coterie of stick-figure rabble-rouser"
Yes, THIS IS what makes you a dork. =)
But it's also one of the reasons I love spending my life with you... you're always making me laugh. =)
Ched,
This post simply is what it is. Thanks for sharing it. Pure genius...the comic strip of course.

Jonathan, your comment smacks of insidious subtlety. I commend it, the subtlety, of course.
"I commend it, the subtlety, of course"
I appreciate the sentiment. For a second there I thought there to be a slice of subtle treachery in your word selection. Thanks for spelling it out.
Insidiously Yours,
J
I agree with Leigh Anne, without her closing sentimental qualification.
