This post really touched me. Sometimes it is difficult to see God's sovereignty in our trials, but having gone through a physically challenging time myself, I can say that all you've written is true. Those who have been through it tend to cling to the Saviour a little bit tighter...

Sadly, this seems to be the reasoning that some people I have talked to end up clinging to. "How could a loving God allow so much pain and suffering?" they say.

It is sometimes difficult to explain to someone who is not in Christ about the fellowship of His suffering, and the fact that contrary to what is taught in mainstream Christianity, the Christian life is not a bed of roses.

On second thought, perhaps it is a bed of roses, but those roses have thorns...

It's eternity we cling to. The promise of His coming. Hard to explain to an "I want it now" world.
