Research Language Log (1): My Hero, the dictionary

The first unit exam of "Beginning Theological German I" is now behind me.

We were allowed to use a dictionary, for which I am thankful.

One example:

My exasperated and belabored carefully crafted initial attempt at translating one particular sentence went something like,
"Your Uncle recommends this book."
After briefly perusing a few of the key terms in the dictionary, I wound up with,
"There are many pages missing from the book."

Not completely disparate renderings. Right?
