Research Language Log (2): The German Monster taunts me through Vocab Flash-Cards

As I was studying my German vocabulary, I came across the German word, "bald."

I am always quick to make outlandish word-associations to remember vocabulary, so I readily noticed that "bald" sounds like bald:

Flipping the card over, the translation: "soon" !?!

Thus, the German Monster threatens me with a reminder of the immanence of a receding hairline.

That's low.
